Individual Therapy

  • Stress and Burnout

How often do we say 'I'm stressed' and then continued with our lives? Stress can seem minor but it is the root for many physical and mental health ailments and often causes burnout. We feel unmotivated, annoyed or easily irritated with people and often feel hopeless and stuck. Stress can often lead to anxiety while burnout may lead to depression. With COVID-19, many of us have been working from home and have felt lost in creating a work/life balance often causing stress and burnout. As your therapist, I will help you with identifying your stress and help you find healthy solutions to cope with it so you can lead a thriving life.

  • Anxiety and Depression

Many of us have felt anxious and/or depressed in situations where we felt nervous, scared, sad or hopeless. Often we feel like our thoughts take over and impact our daily functioning. Getting through the day can be a struggle and asking for help can feel scary. We can feel isolated and have difficulty understanding what is happening to us. Seeking a professional can help you manage your anxiety and/or depression. As your therapist, I will work with you in exploring your symptoms and help you better understand them. We will work together in finding practical ways to cope with anxiety and/or depression so you can live a balanced life.

  • Self Esteem and Confidence

We all have self-esteem whether it is positive or negative and it influences many areas of our life whether we realize it or not. Having low self-esteem can impact our self-confidence and often leads to self-doubt and questioning our self-worth. I believe loving ourself is a sign of strength and can lead to higher self-esteem. As your therapist, I will work with you in exploring areas where you have low self-esteem and help you find healthy solutions to increase your confidence and self-esteem. Together, we can find ways to practice self love so you can be your authentic self and set aside the fears that keep you stuck.

  • Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC)

As a person and woman of color, I have faced my own share of discrimination and racism. It can bring up a range of emotions in us: anger, frustration, rage, sadness, disappointment and hopelessness. As a nation, many people realized that racism still exists in our country. For BIPOC, this is not new. We have learned to navigate spaces where we may be the only person of color in the room. Being BIPOC can take a toll and it is critical to find support as we navigate our wellbeing. It is key that you have a therapist that understands the nuances of how racial trauma can not only impact but shape our sense of self. Together, we can deconstruct your internal beliefs, process past and present racial trauma, find ways to increase self love and assist you in advocating for yourself.

  • Identity

Our identity shapes the way we perceive ourselves and how we show up in the world. Whether you are struggling with your racial, gender or sexual identity, navigating this process with a professional can help bring clarity and confidence in being your authentic self. Whether you are coming out to your friends or family or trying to discover and form your identity, it can be an isolating process. I will help you find ways to move through life where you are able to be more authentic and genuine with yourself and others. I am LGTBQIA+ affirming and welcome all races/ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation in my practice.

  • Trauma

Whether you have experienced trauma through abuse or neglect or have been impacted by traumatic events, facing it can often feel debilitating. We can feel hopeless, scared and unaware of how it impacts different areas of our life. Understanding your trauma is the first step to unlocking the ‘hold’ it can have on our lives. As a trauma-informed therapist, I will help you understand your trauma and the effects it has in your daily life. I will work with you in bringing awareness around your triggers and finding solutions to cope with your trauma while providing a safe space that is non-judgmental and client-centered.

  • Relationships

As social beings, we desire to be in partnerships but this path is often not easy for everyone. As humans, we want to be loved and accepted for who we are and are often scared to show our authentic self due to the fear of rejection. Whether you are looking for love or having challenges in your current relationship, therapy can help break down the barriers and patterns keeping you ‘stuck’ in ways that don’t serve you. I will help you explore your relationship patterns, get clear on your needs and find someone who will be able to meet those needs, create healthy boundaries, find ways to open up leading to a healthy current or future relationship.

  • Adoption

Adoption can be a life altering event. Whether you have decided to adopt or are facing infertility and looking at adoption, it can bring up a wide range of emotions for us. Having a professional to speak with as you move through this process can be extremely helpful. I have experience working with both families who are facing infertility, are considering adoption or have children who are adopted. I have worked in both the public and private sector and successfully helped finalized adoptions for families. I will support you in navigating this process whether you are at the beginning, middle or end of this stage.
